Privacy Policy
Effective: May 2026
This page explains what data PCPulse collects when you visit the site, how we use it, and the choices you have. We try to keep this short and unsurprising. If something isn’t clear, email privacy@pcpulse.us.
What we collect
- Anonymous request logs. Standard server logs (IP, user agent, requested URL, timestamp). Used only to detect abuse and debug failures. Retained 30 days, then discarded.
- Browser-local preferences. Density toggle, watchlist contents, and dismissed banners are stored in your browser’s local storage. They never leave your machine. Clear them any time via your browser settings.
- Click attribution. When you click a retailer link, an affiliate-network cookie is set by the retailer (not by us). This cookie tells the retailer we sent you and is what lets PCPulse earn a commission if you buy. The cookie is set by the retailer’s system; we never see your purchase or the items you bought.
What we don’t collect
- No accounts, logins, or passwords.
- No purchase data. We never see what you buy or how much you spent.
- No email signups. There is no newsletter.
- No cross-site tracking pixels (Facebook Pixel, Google Ads tag).
Affiliate networks and cookies
PCPulse participates in affiliate programs operated by retailers and affiliate networks (such as Amazon Associates, Rakuten LinkShare, Impact, and Commission Junction). When you click an outbound link to a retailer, that network may set a tracking cookie in your browser to attribute any subsequent purchase to PCPulse for commission purposes. The price you pay is identical to what you would pay going directly to the retailer.
These cookies are governed by the respective network’s privacy policy, not ours. You can opt out of behavioral advertising at aboutads.info/choices or block third-party cookies in your browser entirely — PCPulse will still work, the affiliate networks just won’t earn us a commission.
Analytics
We use minimal first-party analytics (page views and outbound-click counts) to understand which catalog entries get traffic. No personal data is included in these counters; no third-party analytics provider receives your data.
Children
PCPulse is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Your rights
- You can clear all browser-local data at any time by clearing site data in your browser.
- You can email privacy@pcpulse.us to request deletion of any server-side data tied to your IP. We’ll process the request within 30 days.
- EU and California residents have additional rights under GDPR and CCPA respectively. The same email handles those requests.
Changes
If we change this policy, the “Effective” date above updates and the previous version is archived. Material changes will be announced on the homepage for at least 30 days.
